Vibration Measurements

Vibrations in your machine inform us about its condition. All your machines have their own vibration image. A divergence from that image may indicate that there is a problem with the machine, which might not necessarily cause problems immediately. However, in the long term, it inevitably leads to (consequential) damages and maybe even unexpected shutdowns.

At ACD, we are here to provide you with timely information about the severity, location, and possible causes of problems.

As a guarantee of our quality, our employees are CAT II certified. We can therefore perform a vibration measurement according to ISO18436.2

Measuring vibrations

When measuring vibrations, we place a sensor in an appropriate place on your machine. The sensor accurately detects the frequency and amplitude of vibrations. All this data is stored and processed using specifically developed software.

Analysis of the vibrations

Vibrations contain a wealth of information to those who know how to interpret them. Therefore, we analyze the vibrations in different ways, using powerful tools and software. As a result, we are able to determine what the potential problems are:

  • Detailed trend analysis - We compare each new set of vibration data with the previous graphs and with the data gathered during first use. If we notice any ongoing difference in the overall values or in a certain frequency, this may indicate a potential problem. If this is the case, you will be immediately. In consultation, we will increase the amount of monitoring so that we can quickly and correctly intervene.
  • Frequency spectrum analysis - After an FFT transformation, your machine has a very specific vibration spectrum. All deviations have their own characteristic error frequency or vibration image. We thoroughly highlight and examine the machine to determine the cause of problems.
  • Waveform analysis - This analysis looks for specific disorders and patterns that are sometimes less obvious in a frequency spectrum. Even with small measurement values, a waveform can distinguish between early impact sensitive phenomena. Examples of this are looseness, gear problems, and backlash.
  • Peakvue analysis - With old techniques, it is almost impossible to register small energy differences. Bearing damage often goes unnoticed, although early detection is extremely important. Our peakvue analysis is a powerful tool to obtain the correct information in time.

Experience and expertise

No vibration measurement is black and white. We use very specialized equipment in order to obtain the most detailed information. The figures and graphs are interpreted by our specialists to provide you with proper and correct advice.

Our employees work with various measuring devices every day and are experienced in interpreting the right data. They come to the right conclusions by using various measurements and subsequently combine the results with historical data and thorough knowledge of your machine.

Vibration measurement is suited to all the following problems:
